Panchu Pandav Caves is a historical monument of the 5th or 6th century A.D. located in the Badagada area, Bhubaneswar. There are five caves here. Legend states that the Panchu Pandava brothers (Arjuna, Bhima, Nakula, Sahadeva, and Yudhisthira) stayed in these caves during their Mahabharata-era exile (Vanvas). An almost identical legend is associated with the Panchu Pandav Temple in Ganeswarpur, 50 km north-west of here. Sapanpur Cave and Mahimagadi are located on the hilltop. It is 10 km distance from Cuttack Tangi and 6 km west of Kanakgiri Hills. One has to climb 100 steps to reach it. The cave is about 70 feet long, and the entrance is narrow. After walking 20 feet, there is a room inside the cave, which is 15 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 8 feet high.
