Talcher is located on the bank of the River Brahmani and is 15 km from Angul town and 65 km from Dhenkanal. The fertilizers plant of Talcher is the largest coal-based plant in India as well as in the world. Previously It was the capital of ex ruler of Talcher till 1948.
