Talcher is situated on the bank of the River Brahmani. It is 15 km from Angul town and 65 km from Dhenkanal. The fertilizers plant of Talcher is the largest coal-based plant in India as well as in the world. Previously It was the capital of ex ruler of Talcher till 1948.
