Garjan Khol Waterfall is one of the lesser-known and unexplored waterfalls of Angul District, Odisha, located about 29 km from Pallahara town near Nagira Village. Surrounded by hills, dense forest, natural streams, and beautiful landscapes, Garjankhol is an ideal destination for travellers who love offbeat places, trekking, photography, nature, and forest picnics. The waterfall lies in a forested and hilly landscape, making it relatively isolated compared with more developed tourist destinations. Unlike popular waterfalls that can be reached directly by vehicle, Garjankhol offers a little adventure. The road journey from Pallahara to the parking area is relatively good, but from the parking area visitors need to walk approximately 1.5 km along a forest trail to reach the waterfall. There is no proper motorable road for the final stretch, so a short trek through the dense forest is part of the experience.
Garjankhol is not limited to the main waterfall area. Towards the upstream section, visitors can find another smaller waterfall. The appearance and colour of the water can change according to the season, rainfall, and surrounding conditions. During the rainy and post-monsoon period, the landscape becomes particularly attractive, with greenery covering the surrounding hills and forest. Exploring the upper stream can make the trip more interesting, but visitors should be careful around rocks, deep water, and slippery surfaces. Garjan Khol can be a wonderful place for a forest picnic with friends or family, especially for those who prefer quiet, natural surroundings. However, this is an undeveloped tourist location, so visitors should not expect facilities like restaurants, shops, drinking-water points, toilets, or accommodation near the waterfall. Garjan Khol Waterfall is truly an unexplored corner of Angul—perfect for travellers who want to discover Odisha beyond the usual tourist destinations.
