Derjang Reservoir, Dam, Angul

The Derjang reservoir project is 7 km away from Angul. It is mainly used for irrigation purposes, which is the first medium irrigation project and a water reservoir. The construction of the project was started in the year 1960 & was completed during 1977-78. The dam is a zoned fill dam of length 1875m. and the maximum height of the dam is 27.31m. The top width of the dam is 4.57m. The Derjang Dam intercepts a catchment area of 399 sq. km. The dam is constructed across two rivers Lingara & Mathili and situated near Majhika village in Angul district. It is an ideal spot for a group picnic and relaxation and It’s a very nice place to have some beautiful time to spend with friends n family. The beauty of the Dam has enjoyed in the time of Sunrise or Sunset is charming. The serene beauty of the green hills and forests attract the Tourist and picnic rush the spot during winter.
