Pancharatha temple is located at the centre of Sonepur town. This beautiful temple constructed in a chariot size resembles the Sun Temple at Konark. It is a Shiva temple where Siva, Parvati, Kartika, Ganesh and Brushav are worshipped in five shrines. Mahashivratri and Sital Sasthi are the main festivals of this temple, and on these days a large number of devotees come here to celebrate the festival. It is believe that Pancharatha Mandir was built by King Birmitra Singhdeo, to commemorate the death of his son Prince Somobhusan. Sonepur Pancharatha Mandir is a famous temple in Subarnapur District.
