Rameswar Temple is located on the confluence of the Mahanadi and Tel rivers and is about 3 km from Sonepur town. It is a beautiful Saiva Pitha like Subarnameru. This temple consists of a sanctum, a Jagnmohan, and a Natamandap in the style of the Lingaraj temple of Bhubaneswar. The period of construction of the temple is about the 18th century AD. The lingam of the temple is very old. Legend associates Lord Ram with its installation. Rameswar Mandir is one of the famous temples in Sonepur.
Lord Kartik, Ganesh, and Goddess Parvati are worshipped in this temple. Near the Rameshwar temple is a Durga temple, where the image of the ten-armed Durga is enshrined. Maa Durga is also revered as Shakti, like Parvati. Outside the boundary of the Rameswar temple, there is a Brisabha temple, where a colossal black image of Brisabha is installed.
