Lankeswari Temple, Sonepur, Subarnapur

Lankeswari Temple is located inside the Mahanadi River at Sonepur town in the Subarnapur district. Once upon a time, the Sonepur region was known as Paschima Lanka. Goddess Lankeswari was the presiding deity of Paschima Lanka. Now Maa Lankeswari is worshipped by the Kaivarta (fisherman) community of Sonepur and the people of the Subarnapur district. Maa Lankeswari Temple is a famous temple in Subarnapur, Odisha.

Chaitra Purnima and Kartika Purnima are the main festivals of this temple, and on these days, devotees come to see the mother. The only way to reach the temple is by boat.
