Sitakunda, Bonda hill, Mudulipada, Malkangiri

Sitakunda, a beautiful place, is located 90 km from Malkangiri and Koraput via Khairput of Malkangiri district. A boating spot is situated at Bonda Hills, where Sita Devi used to take a bath in this Kund on her way to Dandakaranya with Sri Ram and Laxman. The scenic beauty of this place is very attractive. It is also a picnic spot. It is a holy place because of its mythological connection, but there are no facilities; tourists are not coming to this place.

According to local mythology, Goddess Sita once bathed in this kund. While doing so, some tribal women laughed at her unbound hair, which led Sita to curse them, resulting in the tribal Bonda women remaining bald to this day. Sita Kund in Malkangiri is a mythologically rich, scenic, and sacred site—connected deeply to the Ramayana, tribal traditions, and contemporary rituals. It offers a blend of devotion, culture, and natural beauty.
