Ingredients
- Black gram dal (without skin)- 500gms
- Rice powder- 100gms
- Onion (Finely Chopped)- 200gms
- Green chillies (Chopped)- 5
- Coriander leaves- 1 small bunch
- Slat- 1 tsp. or to taste
- Refined oil- 500 ml
The formula of Odia Biri Bara (Vada)
Wash and soak the dal for 3 to 4 hours. Let it stand for an hour. Beat the paste by hand till light and fluffy. Add salt, rice powder, onions, chillies, curry or coriander leaves and mix well. Heat oil in Karai. When moderately hot, drop a small Bara into the oil and fry till golden brown. Remove from oil, drain well and place on absorbent paper. Serve hot with Chutney or Sauce. Biri Bara is a famous tin dish of Odisha.
