The Anantashayana Vishnu statue is located in a park inside the Bhimkand Talcher Super Thermal Power Station in Angul district, which is about 4 km from Kaniha and 28 km from Talcher. The site is renowned for its big carved image of Lord Vishnu in a reclining posture. The sculpture measures 41.6 feet, making it the largest sleeping image of Vishnu in India. It dates back to the 8th–9th century AD. The image of Lord Vishnu is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Angul district, Odisha. This centuries-old statue, depicting Lord Vishnu in a lying-down position, was discovered during excavation work for the Bhimakanda NTPC Kaniha project. To protect the sculpture from environmental and human-induced damage, NTPC has installed fencing and a protective roof over the site. There is a beautiful park near this statue where you can spend some time.
