Siruli Mahavir Temple, Puri

The Siruli Mahavir Temple is a significant Hindu temple located about 27 km from Puri in the state of Odisha. It is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, who is revered here as Mahavir. Apart from Hanuman, there are idols such as Ganesha, Uma Maheshwara, Mahisamardini Maa Durga, Kshetrapala, and Shiva Linga. The temple is built of laterite and sandstone and consists of four structures, namely Vimana, Jagamohana, Nata Mandapa, and Bhoga Mandapa. According to local people, this temple was built in 1212 A.D.–1236 A.D. by Ganga ruler Anangabhima Deva III. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman, who is worshipped in his “Mahavir” form. The idol of Lord Hanuman in the temple is unique and has distinctive features that attract devotees.

Festivals like Makar Sankranti, Dussehra, Kumar Purnima, Rama Navami, Dola, Chandan Yatra, and Gamha Purnima are mainly celebrated in this Mahavir temple.
