History of Baba Bhusandeswar Temple

According to the Puranas, a devotee of Lord Shiva gifted this powerful Lingam to King Ravana. However, Shiva warned Ravana not to place it on the ground. During his journey, Ravana stopped at this place and put the Lingam on the ground, causing it to become immobile. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t lift it again, and the Shiv Ling has been worshipped here ever since.
According to another story, the name of the temple comes from the name of Sage Bhusanda, who used to worship this Shiva Linga here for years, after which the place was named Bhusandeswar after him.
